A rubbish idea for carers

In the local news this week is a piece about the council’s intention to reduce the amount of rubbish households are allowed to produce to 80 bags a year.

I’d love to know what they think we are going to do about the extra, non-recyclable rubbish that families with disabled dependents produce.

We are lucky in this house because our daughter uses the loo and only gets through one or two pairs of pull-ups a day.

That is still 14 a week though which is not an insignificant amount.

A friend of mine is in the same boat. She phoned the council to complain about 2 weekly collections as her son (11) is still in nappies. The council finally agreed to do a weekly “clinical waste collection” of the nappies. Might be worth giving your council a ring 🙂
