British MP Iain Duncan-Smith advocates welfare reform in NZ

 

A senior British cabinet minister on a visit to New Zealand is preaching the need for tougher conditions for the dole and other benefits.

Iain Duncan-Smith is leading the UK Government’s push for major welfare changes.

Not everyone extended him a warm welcome when he arrived in Auckland last night. He was met by protesters outside a lecture for the conservative Maxim Institute.

Former Green Party MP and spokesperson for Auckland Action Against Poverty Sue Bradford said the radical reform of benefits and pensions in the UK is doing harm.

    at least some other countries still show some humanity to disabled people .IDS will go down in history as a failed leader and a failed human being who can’t see the terrible harm he is doing to the vulnerable of this country.
