Workers at disabled factory in Swansea unite for march against cuts

DISABLED factory workers from Swansea will lead a march against coalition cuts in Cardiff today.

Government-funded manufacturing and employment services firm Remploy has announced plans to offer voluntary redundancy to employees working in its enterprise businesses and central services.

Workers at the firm’s factory on Bruce Road in Swansea say they are devastated at the thought of losing their jobs.

And today a group of 15 staff including team leader Neil Pearce will lead a march through Cardiff from Cathays Park to Sophia Gardens.

Mr Pearce is 41 and has suffered from muscular dystrophy since he was born.

He said: “At the end of the day we are part of the coalition cuts. We are showing camaraderie with the other unions because we are all in it together this time.
