Scottish charities plan revolt over cuts to DLA benefits

DISABLED people in Scotland are planning to mount a campaign against government plans to  remove a key component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA).

Voluntary groups say removing the mobility component of DLA would consign some of the most vulnerable people in the country to the “dark ages” of care provision, and leave many destitute.

In Scotland, a total of 74,850 people will be affected by the removal of the mobility element of the benefit – 25 per cent more than officially announced.
